OFF TO THE SHOW WE GO!
Dick and Jane (our mythical family mom and dad) Spot (their jack russell terrier) Jumbo (their rottweiler) Gentlemen Jim (their equitation horse) and Sally (their little star rider) arrive at the show grounds and are told to park the trailer in the designated area. After much turning and backing they get to the spot and promptly back into the trailer parked next to theirs (better check the auto policy) Mom opens the door and out pop Spot and Jumbo. Mom calls and Spot doesn't want to come back. Jumbo complies. Spot runs around a bit and a cute little boy rider decked out in jodhpurs etc. tries to catch Spot and Spot who still doesn't want to come back squirms in the boy's arms. The boy holds on tighter. Spot reaches back and bites the boy on the arm. Spot, now free, runs home to Mom. (Hope you have good homeowner and umbrella coverage.) Oh well, these things happen.
Our family thinks about the blue ribbons Sally is going to get, she's been champion at six shows since June. Sally tacks up and goes to the schooling ring. Sally is very nervous because her trainer is at one of the rings and Dad is going to help school her. Sally does so well on the flat, Dad gets carried away and tells Sally to jump that line over there. Sally forgets to yell "heads up!" and falls off the horse after colliding with another horse and rider. (Check that medical policy folks.) Your barn may even have an accident policy to cover this at a show. Also check on that major medical for the horse and your horse liability coverage
Things get better for our family. Sally's trainer schools her well and gives her confidence and Sally goes on to victory in the equitation ring. Everyone was able to enjoy the show, because they had all the coverage they needed to ensure that these little incidents weren't big disasters!
