| AT WHAT COST? Could it have been prevented? Maybe. The loss of life did NOT have to be sooo extensive. Simple, inexpensive measures could and should have been taken. Smoke detectors in every 2-3 stalls and a baby intercom system (one in the stable, one in the house.)
Isn't there a better system than those electric hot water rods? Isn't that
what seemed to be the cause of the Dix Hills fire? Whether your horse had
become a beloved "member of the family" or is a prized investment, isn't that
life worth an $8.00 smoke detector an a $20.00 baby intercom system??? Well, since this is the insurance corner, just a note -----The premium to insure your horse(depending
on how it's being used) is 3% of value - a minimum premium of $150.00 per
policy. This premium includes emergency colic treatment of up to $5,000
(or 1/2 the value of the horse.) You can also protect yourself if you have
horses in your care, custody and control. The premium starts as low as $105
for $5,000 coverage per horse / $25,000 per occurrence. Higher limits are
available. Once again, please take the simple safety measures I explained
and save a life. Thank you. If you would like to contact us, need additional information or have questions, please feel free to email us. | |
